Colony is a pioneering NFT brand founded by Hunter Bessell in July 2021. The company made a significant impact in the industry when it sold out a collection of 25,000 avatars, known as Colonists, generating around $2.4 million in just three days in September 2021. Colony was the first NFT project to feature the NFT avatar customization system known as "trait re-rolling," and also developed a demo for a highly-anticipated 3D social blockchain MMO called Colony Online. Unfortunately, the company was forced pause their game development operations in late 2022 due to a lack of sufficient funding.
